Why do people still fall victim to obvious scams?

Greed is the primary reason people why people fall victim to obvious scams. They want to grab that opportunity that is just too good to be true. We mostly forget the saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is."

Here are a few general reasons;

  • Humans are lazy and want quick money.
  • We think it’s legit because others do it.
  • We are ignorant of how things work and don't want to take time in learning.

Scams are obvious in nature but are obscured by the incredible benefits that are attached to them. Because we want to make money fast, we are always blind towards the true intent of such schemes.

HYIP and Ponzi schemes are the most notable scams in the crypto industry. They promise massive returns on minute investment and lure people with different gimmicks. People want to make $1000 with $1 in 24 hours and when 10,000 people invest $1, the scammers run away with their money. This is too good to be true, well that's because it is.

Scams fulfill the desires of a lot of people wanting to get millions out of nothing and as a result, they get ripped off the first time and many more times simply because of greed.
