Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum Co-founder, has launched a new development to the Ethereum roadmap. He announced the launch of these new changes that seek to reduce censorship, obstruct verification, centralize government operations, and address several other problems.

In a tweet revealed on Saturday, the Ethereum co-founder included "The Scourge," which is a new level on the Ethereum technical roadmap. The Scourge will ensure that censorship prevention and decentralization of the Ethereum web are heightened and enhanced appropriately.
Ethereum made a full transition from the energy-concentrated proof-of-work (PoW) to its long-expected proof-of-stake (PoS) on the 15th of September, a level described as the Merge. After the merger, the conversations around Ethereum projected that the engagement with the token would increase, thus skyrocketing its value in the cryptocurrency market.
After the Merge, Ethereum proceeded to its second development stage, which is described as the Surge. It intends to achieve the target of hitting 100,000 transactions per second via rollups. According to the erstwhile roadmap, there were a total of five levels, with the rest described as splurge, purge, and verge.
Nonetheless, the currently widened and developed six-part technical roadmap entails the Scourge as the third stage, which is succeeded by the aforementioned levels: the splurge, the purge, and the verge.
