Due to inconveniences caused by airlines as a result of flight cancellations or delays caused by the pandemic, Colibra app will be used to compensate Bulgarian air passengers. The new platform in Bulgaria that has been offering compensations to inconvenienced passengers since it started last year June is now providing an option for airline users to receive crypto as a form of payment for inconveniences.

The compensation will be paid to passengers who were delayed for over an hour irrespective of excuses airlines might give.

Since cryptocurrencies are volatile and unstable, travelers can decide to fix a price on the take-off day or the day the flight was booked. For instance, a constant traveler that fixed a rate when BTC was about $11k would have gained a certain amount from a flight postponed to when BTC rises to $12k.

In the European Union, compensations are only paid for delays of about three hours or more. However, Based on the startup, the probability of witnessing an hour delay is greater than that of three hours, so passengers get paid for inconveniences more often.
