The parent company of Mercedes-Benz, Daimler AG, has announced its partnership with Ocean Protocol, a cryptocurrency project focusing on data exchange protocol. It is reported that Daimler’s subsidiary in SE Asia will use Ocean Protocol’s solutions to get and monetize data from the firm.
The trial program is going to demonstrate Ocean Protocol’s Compute-to-Data which would protect Daimler’s sensitive data and allow the data to be utilized and aggregated by third parties.
Thanks to this partnership, Ocean Protocol is able to attract attention from the crypto media. It is also hoping to be able to partner with big and international global corporations if this trial is proven to be successful.
Daimler has also stated that it has faith in the power of blockchain and decentralization. This partnership is actually not new for the crypto space. Many other car manufacturers such as Volkswagen and others have been experimenting with distributed ledger technology (DLT) as well.
That being said, many of these partnerships are usually limited to experiments and trial programs. The blockchain industry is still waiting for that “killer” partnership that will allow the car manufacturers to integrate the blockchain tech much further rather than just pilot programs. Ocean Protocol is surely hoping to get some of these bigger cakes.
