Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto in January 2009 as the first cryptocurrency and so far the most popularly known. Bitcoin operates using the blockchain system, a decentralized ledger system. The process of creating BTC is called Bitcoin mining. This involves trading and buying Bitcoin until a new block is formed and added to the existing blockchain.
Any governmental body or bank does not back Bitcoin or any alternative to Bitcoin. Like an account in a bank, bitcoins are stored in the individual's Bitcoin wallet and can only be accessed using a private key only known to the trader. Cryptocurrency trading is widely known to be a fast-growing system, especially Bitcoin.
Other cryptocurrencies have the potential to be useful in the cryptocurrency system as well. We will be listing and reviewing about ten of them that are gradually being introduced and used.
Best Alternative to Bitcoin
There are different types of cryptocurrencies. In fact, up to two thousand (2000), cryptocurrencies are existing as of January 2020.
However, only a certain of them show the possibility of increasing in value and support. These include Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin, Tether, Libra, Monero, EOS, Binance coin, Bitcoin SV, and Bitcoin cash.
1. Ethereum
The second most popularly used digital cryptocurrency after Bitcoin was Ethereum, launched in 2015. This software program permits the running of decentralized apps, thereby preventing any breach of privacy from an outsider. Just like bitcoin, it also operates on a unique cryptographic token called the Ether. Ethereum is essential not just for trading but also for developers trying to develop and use some other applications inside it. Before Ethereum launch in 2015, the sale of Ether was initiated the previous year, which was widely accepted into the system.
Another significant facet of Ethereum is that it supports digital trading and equally acts as a marketplace of other financial services, games, and applications that don't take data from the user.
This is what makes it unique from the other cryptocurrencies. A unique fact to note is that Ethereum does power Ethereum. It also encourages its users to build and develop other cryptocurrencies.
It is by excellence the first alternative to Bitcoin
2. Ripple
In the second place is Ripple. This is another fast-growing cryptocurrency in the system. Ripple XRP was introduced initially into the system in 2012 by Chris Larsen.
It was later re-introduced on the 15th of May 2018 and has since remained stable in the cryptocurrency system. Ripple platform is known to conduct transactions in less than 5seconds.
Ripple's bridges different currencies effectively and of also being an affordable digital currency. It is the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. As of January 2020, it had a market capitalization of 9.2billion dollars. Ripple doesn't require mining. Making it am attractive alternative to Bitcoin. This reduces the time spent trading and buying when using the ripple currency.
4. Litecoin
Thirdly, we have Litecoin. Commonly known as LTC, this is another up and coming back cryptocurrency launched on the 7th of October 2011. It has since remained relevant in the cryptocurrency system.
Litecoin was brought to light by Charlie Lee, who used to work for Google. Although copying the Bitcoin code-based. Lee ensures an increase in the supply and speed at which coins are added to the existing blockchain.
One Litecoin currently equals 29,096.97 Nigeria Naira. As opposed to other cryptocurrencies, Litecoin has a limit of 84 million LTC. Similar to bitcoin, Litecoin undergoes a mining process for its development. Although the two cryptocurrencies seem alike, the existing differences, such as generating a block is about 2.5 minutes for litecoin and about 10 minutes for Bitcoin. A litecoin bonus of 50 is given to the first user that succeeds in securing a block.
Tether
Furthermore, the fourth cryptocurrency that has a good potential of surviving is Tether. Tether is also the most commonly used stablecoin as it has retained a stable exchange rate since its launch in 2018 by Tether Limited.
USDT was launched first in July 2014 by Brook and two of his other partners. This particular cryptocurrency can be exchanged directly for dollars.
Tether has two subsections: the Tether USD (USDT) OMNI and the Tether USD ( USDT) ERC 20. The ability to remain stable is the reason why Tether is quite essential in the digital system. Tether also reduces friction, has exit strategies, maintains accountability, accepts all exchanges, and transits cryptocurrency.
Libra
The next best alternative to Bitcoin is Libra from Facebook. Though this crypto is not yet in full use and function, it shows good potential.
Libra was rebranded to Diem and is not being managed by Diem Association. This cryptocurrency is built to be accessible to anybody with a smartphone and connectivity and make the transactions as easy as possible. This cryptocurrency can only be traded on the Libra Website, and they don't offer exchange and brokerage services.
Monero
The Monero Cryptocurrency, which is the sixth fast-rising cryptocurrency in the system, was initially released in 2014 using the name BitMonero by Nicholas Van. The symbol for this is XMR. It was re-released in November 2020 using the new name Monero. This cryptocurrency currently has a circulating supply of 17,575,954 XMR. Monero is known to have a lot of potential as a cryptocurrency because of its privacy settings, which disguises its traders' address, thereby making it safe and quite reliable to use. Monero mining can be done on any software, and the participants get rewards when they join mining pools. It is also known to be a safer Alternative to Bitcoin due to the history of transactions that doesn't allow its units to be blacklisted by others---thereby preventing fraud. It is also one of the largest cryptocurrency in the world.
EOS
EOS is also known as EOSIO, can be used for both private and public blockchain systems. This is the 7th cryptocurrency with the potential of being sustainable in the digital market.
It is considered the most potent structure for DApps. Just like the App Store in iPhone, the EOSIO ensures a stress-free app development. EOS was launched by Larimer, a foundation of other cryptocurrency platforms. With the way EOS was developed, it tends to resolve speed, usability, and scalability.
EOS claims boldly to be able to process over 100,000 transactions per second. Its initial release was in 2018 and currently has a circulating supply of 896,149,492 and a block time of 500ms. They are known to be the fastest so far.
This gives this cryptocurrency a high chance of overtaking as an alternative to Bitcoin in the digital market system. The system is designed so that EOS users are completely involved by having access to vote for or against block producers.
Binance Coin
The 8th cryptocurrency with a good potential of being sustainable and stable in the digital market is the Binance coin.
This is a platform for also trading different cryptocurrencies. Having its headquarters in Malta, the Binance coin was founded in 2017 by Changpeng. Binance coin had its headquarters firstly in China before moving to Malta. We do not only trade with this coin but for payment of fees on the Binance exchange. This coin can be unique from other crypto exchanges because it trades solely in cryptocurrencies, unlike others that use fiat currencies.
Currently having a circulating supply of over 150 million tokens, Binance company sets out to burn most of its tokens soon to prevent a depreciation from value. Binance coins, also known as BNB, are also used for other things such as the Binance account tier, Dust conversion, and IEO lottery. Binance coins can be bought through a bank transfer or any other means through which the cryptocurrency is offered.
Bitcoin SV
The second to the last most potential cryptocurrency in the digital market is the Bitcoin SV. This is very much similar to Bitcoin. This was launched in 2018 after Bitcoin had a decisive damaging blow in 2017. Bitcoin Sv is the version of Satoshi from the main BTC. The Bitcoin SV allows businesses and traders to have the right choice and opportunity to develop their software system, respectively. This Bitcoin has a strong claim of replacing all means of payment in a world by offering an excellent user experience, cybersecurity, and low trading cost. This subsection of Bitcoin has the same circulation supply of over 21 million, although it has only had one event of halving its supply, unlike the leading Bitcoin. If given a few more years, this cryptocurrency is likely to take over our different payment systems.
Bitcoin Cash
Introducing the tenth most potential cryptocurrency to make it in the digital market, we have the Bitcoin Cash.
This is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies in the digital market system. This was launched into the market on the 3rd of January 2009. Bitcoin was divided into two, namely the Bitcoin cash and the Bitcoin SV. Currently, one Bitcoin equals 100,825.79 Nigerian Naira. It also has a supply limit of 20 million Bitcoin Cash and a block time of 10 minutes.
This is the longest block time known for the top ten cryptocurrencies being effectively used in the digital market. Bitcoin cash is more effective than Bitcoin because it permits larger blocks and also carries out more transactions in a second. Like the Bitcoin SV, the Bitcoin cash is being upgraded over time to become the world's best means of exchange.
Bitcoin Cash USP
The unique factors that distinguish this cryptocurrency from the others are reduced merchant cost, decentralization, and a fixed supply. All these make this cryptocurrency unique and likely to be a useful exchange in and outside the digital market soon. Bitcoin cash can be bought on any other platform that supports the purchase of cryptocurrency except Binance, as they did not meet their standards in 2019.
Safe to say that besides the widely known cryptocurrency called Bitcoin, there is still a great potential for these ten cryptocurrencies actually to survive in the digital market system. It is always safer to have other trading options, especially in digital marketing, reducing the loss rate if that particular cryptocurrency crashes. We hope to see how well these other cryptocurrencies do in the market in a few years.
Also, assets can now be converted and stored in the form of cryptocurrencies, making them much accessible. This means of payment can be made faster because it reduces the time spent during physical transactions. It's also safer since it's built not to allow any third party, wipes out every possibility of debit/credit card fraud. Some others are designed so that their users are paid using a cryptocurrency to post their content.
