One of the biggest crypto investment company has withdrawn its advertisement from Fox News after the host, Tucker Carlson defended the shooting of two people by an American teen.
Grayscale has been running cryptocurrency ads on CNBC, MSNBC, FOX, and FOX Business for about three weeks as part of a campaign advocating for crypto adoption. However, the multibillion-dollar company withdrew its ad campaign from FOX news after the host publicly defended an American teenager who killed two people during a Black Lives Matter protest.
There was an immediate uproar on social media quickly after the host asked if everyone was astounded that the protest resulted in murder, or was it shocking that a 17years teenager with a rifle tried to maintain order during the protest.
Grayscale and the other seven sponsors of the show were called out by a well-known host and YouTuber, Brian Tyler Cohen, saying they had just paid Carlson to support a murderer on national TV.
Some people did commend Grayscale for withdrawing its ads, while other critics said the crypto firm should have stayed out of politics and faced crypto matters only. Matt Messex, a crypto investor, says he is terminating his accounts with the company because of the recent events.
Tuckey Carlson has lost seventy advertisers since December 2018 due to controversies, and as a result of this, the show’s ads revenue has dropped from $92.7 million in 2017 to $48.3 million in April 2020.
