The Taiwanese regulator is under pressure from members of the country's parliament to ban cryptocurrency. Regulators admitted that there is presently no government body in charge of developing regulations that guide enterprises that trade crypto assets. However, crypto miners who were concerned about being barred from operating in the nation were comforted when officials said that they seek a more favorable attitude to their operations.
According to the China Times, the head of the Financial Services Commission explained that the body has been holding meetings with some important ministries and government bodies including the Central Bank, the Finance Ministry, the Country's Ministry of Economy, and the National Development Council in preparation for the management of Crypto in the Country.
The House Committee on Financial Services interrogated the administration and regulators extensively on financial problems. One member of parliament asked the FSC and the Ministry of Justice how they plan to deal with money-laundering dangers related with cryptocurrency and legal abidance difficulties.
Huang agreed that the existing legislation provides the FSC limited authority over enterprises that conduct Security Token Offerings (STOs) and that it may only intervene in the industry to prevent potential money laundering concerns.
