The RBZ has been preparing a blueprint for its CBDC, as per a claim made by the bank's governor, John Mangudya. The announcement runs as follows:

The RBZ also stated that it would provide frequent reports on the CBDC project's development.

The RBZ also revealed in its financial policy paper that its fintech regulations framework, which began operations in March 2021, has received "112 enrollment on the site plus an additional 31 submissions at different phases." As per RBZ, the software and systems development sector represent about 48% of "active members."
