Dapps: Decentralised apps, what are they? Why should you know them? Decentralised apps are apps that run on a blockchain network, naturally since they run on bloackchains decentralised apps take on the characterisitics of cryptocurrencies, in other words for an app to qualify as a decentralised app it must have certain cryptocurrency characteristics; open source, the app’s code must be made public meaning it can be copied, or modified by virtually anyone. Dcentralised, the app must not be run or controlled by a single entity and it must be secured by cryptography the same way cryptocurrencies are kept secure on blockchains. Decentralised applications much like normal applications can serve a variety of functions; social media, browsers, gaming applications, wallets and more popular decentralised finance (DEFI) apps. a lot of crypto enthusiasts consider decentralised finance to be the future of finance, so before you entrust your money to DEFI projects it is important to know the advantages and disadvantages of Decentralised apps, perhaps we will do a future discussion of some popular DEFI projects.
